Job Description

Who we are With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system - reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility. What we need Symbotic is looking for an experienced Release Manager to own the end-to-end software release lifecycle across our next generation cloud platform and robotics software stack. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of enterprise-grade release governance and the fast-moving world of robotics software — bringing discipline, automation, and cross-functional alignment to both domains simultaneously. As the primary release authority, you will drive the successful delivery of software to our deployment teams, coordinating across engineering, testing, and site operations to deliver seamless value to our customers. You will mentor junior release managers and embed release best practices across engineering teams What you'll do Own and drive the long-term cloud based release and deployment strategy, influencing engineering priorities, platform direction, and cross-functional investment decisions to enable scalable and resilient software delivery Develop a software release strategy for the next-generation Symbotic ecosystem, integrating inputs from business, project plans, and engineering teams. Manage the content and schedule of releases, collaborating with business stakeholders to drive successful delivery. Own the Change Advisory Board (CAB) process as a change management policy to minimize risk to customers. Proactively identify and resolve risks affecting release scope, schedule, and quality. Establish and enforce branching, versioning, and tagging standards across all repositories. Define and report on release metrics: deployment frequency, change failure rate, mean time to recovery, and lead time for changes. Generate release notifications and summaries for internal and external consumption. Design and improve CI/CD pipelines for cloud (containerized/serverless) targets. Own the lifecycle of software artifacts—including versioning and registry hygiene—across artifact repositories. Implement canary releases, blue-green deployments, and feature flag orchestration for cloud targets. Partner with release engineers to understand the impact of branches and code merges, triaging issues based on priority and timing. Maintain the set of dependencies and procedures required for a release across all areas of the Symbotic system. Leverage AI-assisted tooling to assess release risk and flag dependency conflicts. Evaluate emerging agentic AI workflows to reduce manual toil in release coordination. Build advanced dashboards (Grafana, Power BI) to surface release health to executive leadership. Act as the primary release communication channel to executive stakeholders, producing go/no-go summaries, release reviews, and roadmaps. What you'll need Degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or related experience. Minimum of 12 years of experience in the role of delivery management, release management, or release engineering. Expert level proficiency working with Jira, GitHub Actions/Jenkins, ArgoCD, and collaborative systems like Confluence/SharePoint Hands on experience with public cloud technologies and container registries Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences. Exceptional attention to detail. Situational fluency, ability to influence and motivate others, and perseverance to handle challenging business situations. Ability to triage issues based on priority, impact, risk, release timing. Outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous issues. Experience working with technical engineering teams in a fast-paced technology company. Ability to understand complex technical issues and facilitate resolution. Our environment Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
