About Cheers Cheers Financial Inc. is a fintech company building credit and personal finance tools for underserved consumers, starting with immigrants and thin-file users. Our mission is to help people build U.S. credit, improve financial access, and achieve long-term financial wellness through technology, data, and AI-powered financial guidance. Role We are looking for a Contract Full Stack Developer to help us build, test, and ship customer-facing and internal software products. This person will work across web, mobile integrations, backend APIs, and internal tools, while using AI-assisted development tools to help the team move faster. This is a hands-on role for someone who has built and shipped products before, is comfortable in an early-stage startup environment, and can work quickly with limited supervision. Responsibilities Build and maintain full stack features across web apps, backend APIs, mobile integrations, and internal tools. Develop scalable backend services using Node.js, Express.js, Serverless, AWS, and modern databases. Build clean front-end experiences using React, Next.js, CSS, or similar frameworks. Collaborate with product, mobile, and operations teams to define, build, and troubleshoot features. Use AI coding tools and LLM integrations to improve development speed and product workflows. Write clean, reliable, well-tested code and maintain strong code quality. Debug, optimize, and improve system performance. Communicate project status, technical tradeoffs, and roadblocks clearly. Qualifications 3-5+ years of software development experience. Strong experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, and cloud-based systems. Front-end experience with React, Next.js, CSS, or similar tools. Database experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB. Experience with AWS, Serverless, Git/GitHub, npm/yarn, CI/CD, and automated testing. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment. Preferred Experience with fintech, consumer apps, credit products, lending, banking APIs, KYC, ACH, or credit bureau reporting. Experience with AI-assisted coding tools, LLM APIs, AI agents, or workflow automation. Bilingual in English and Chinese. Based in the Los Angeles / Pasadena area. Open to contract-to-hire, founding engineer, or equity-based structure. Compensation This is a contract role with compensation based on experience, availability, and scope of work. The expected range is $60-$100/hour or $5,000-$10,000/month for an ongoing contract arrangement. For the right candidate, we are open to discussing a contract-to-hire, founding engineer, or equity-based structure.
