Full-time Objective :

To build and evaluate a lot of products across a lot of brands. The person in this role is the technical eyes and ears of the US product team, working through new products, prototypes, and samples to make sure what we're putting in front of customers performs the way it should. This isn't a desk job. It's hands-on, detail-oriented work that sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and quality. You'll be the person who catches problems early, documents them clearly, and works with the team to get them resolved. You'll work as part of a growing engineering team within the US PD function, collaborating closely with the wider product team and reporting directly to the Senior Product Manager.

Language Requirement :

Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required for this role . This position involves direct, ongoing communication with our Chinese manufacturing partners. Candidates who are not fluent in Mandarin will face significant limitations in performing core responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

Product Evaluation and Testing Review and evaluate prototypes and samples against technical requirements — covering optics, electronics, electrical safety, thermal management, mechanical safety, and robustness Understand and test lighting fixtures from a user perspective, not just a technical one Diagnose product issues, recommend corrective actions, and document findings clearly Evaluate and update software on prototypes and provide feedback on current and future product development Quality and Fault Management Work with QC teams on faults and issues as they arise Own issues from initial identification through to resolution — not just flag them and move on Review and confirm the accuracy of technical manuals, data sheets, and product specifications Factory Communication Communicate directly with Chinese manufacturing partners on technical issues, feedback, and product queries — in Mandarin Mandarin fluency is essential: most products are manufactured in China, and direct communication removes friction that costs time and quality Team Support Support the Senior Product Manager and product team day to day Critically analyze technical issues and bring clear thinking to the team Offer feedback and suggestions on products in development Coding and App Development Coding or software development experience is valued and would be put to use As the app development function grows, there is opportunity to contribute directly to app projects Experience with any programming language, scripting, or app development is relevant — breadth of exposure matters more than depth in a specific language An interest in how hardware and software connect is particularly useful given the nature of our products Education and/or

Experience:

Solid understanding of entertainment lighting systems — mechanical, electrical, and optical Experience working with or on DMX lighting setups Working knowledge of DMX, Art-Net, and sACN protocols Precise fault reporting and documentation Strong communication skills — able to explain technical problems clearly to non-technical stakeholders Familiarity with lighting control desks — ChamSys experience is a plus, but training can be provided Some coding or software development experience — not a requirement, but valued Fluency in Mandarin Chinese - required. This role involves direct factory communication and Mandarin fluency will meaningfully determine effectiveness in the position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to ten pounds without assistance and at times up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers and other peripherals. The employee may be exposed to bright lights from product fixtures.
