Job Description:
One of our leading client is looking for Sr RPG Developer in Oak Brook IL onsite Key Responsibilities Lead design, development, and implementation of RPG applications on IBM i platforms. Develop RESTful and high-performance APIs using Java and Rust. Integrate RPG programs with modern backend services and cloud-native systems. Perform code reviews, provide technical mentorship, and enforce best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with efficient root-cause analysis. Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver reliable solutions. Contribute to system modernization strategies and automation efforts. Write technical documentation and participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies. Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills
RPG / RPGLE
•Advanced proficiency, including CL programs and
SQLRPGLE.
Java•Strong backend development skills (Spring/Spring Boot preferred). Rust•Experience building high-performance backend services/APIs. Experience building
REST/HTTP
APIs and integrating with enterprise systems. Familiarity with IBM i (AS/400) architecture, DB2/400, and related tools. Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL optimization. Version control experience (Git preferred). Understanding of microservices architecture, CI/CD, DevOps practices.
