Job Description
Senior Software Engineer (Evening) Working with a prop trading firm that is looking to bring on an experienced software engineer to help build, operate, and improve high‑availability systems that run critical business operations around the clock. This role begins with daytime onboarding and transitions to an evening schedule supporting live systems and ongoing development. What you'll be responsible for Designing and building core backend systems and internal tools Supporting and improving production systems during off‑hours Debugging, monitoring, and resolving issues in live environments Collaborating with global engineering partners to ensure smooth handoffs between regions Improving system reliability, performance, and scalability Writing, testing, and maintaining clean, production‑quality code What we're looking for 5+ years of relevant experience Strong experience building and supporting complex software systems Proficiency in Java for backend development Comfort working in Linux-based production environments Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and communicate clearly across teams Schedule & work model Initial onboarding during standard business hours Long-term evening schedule (Sunday-Thursday), 3pm-11pm CT Primarily remote after onboarding, with occasional planned overlap with daytime teams
