The Opportunity:
This is an onsite position that is based out of our Abbott Park, IL location in our CHR Corporate Human Resources division. The Associate Architect, Integrations plays a key role in Implementing, supporting and advancing Abbott's Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) ecosystem within the
HRTS HCM
Architecture team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain integrations that connect Workday with a wide range of internal and external systems. You will partner closely with functional teams, technical teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality solutions, resolve integration issues, and ensure the stability and scalability of our HR technology landscape. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about delivering reliable, well‑engineered integration solutions. What You'll Work On Design, develop, and support integrations and reports between Workday and third‑party applications. Build integrations using Workday technologies including Core Connectors, Packaged Connectors, Workday Studio, and EIBs. Collaborate with project teams, including Functional Consultants, Project Managers, and offshore resources, to deliver integration components for HR initiatives. Support the full integration lifecycle—requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Partner with Integrations Manager on system analysis, optimization efforts, and architectural improvements. Create and maintain technical documentation, including integration specifications, data flow diagrams, and operational procedures. Provide on‑call support and ensure timely resolution of integration‑related incidents. Maintain SLAs for operational tickets and ensure adherence to established support guidelines. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience. 7-8 years of hands‑on experience developing and supporting Workday integrations. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Solid understanding of HR processes and Workday HCM concepts. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with SaaS architecture and integration patterns, including
SOAP, REST
APIs and Orchestrations. Experience with
XML, XSLT, ETV, XTT, JSON, HTML, JAVA
Proficiency with development and testing tools such as Workday Studio, Oxygen, Postman, or SOAP UI. Experience with Workday Extend is a plus. Working knowledge of Workday integration tools, including EIBs and Core Connectors.
