(DSN) is seeking a full-time Embedded Software Engineer - Energy Electronics to join our team in Mossville, IL! We offer full benefits, PTO, 401k, and more! Position Overview We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop embedded software for electronic control systems supporting diesel engine and battery electric/fuel cell programs, fully on-site in Mossville, IL. Areas of responsibility include configuration, integration, build, and testing of embedded software; development and verification of software requirements in a bench environment; and troubleshooting software and system defects. You will support application teams in designing, developing, and validating software flash files. This role is part of an application and library team consisting of an application lead, systems engineer(s), validation engineer(s), software architects, and developers. It offers strong exposure to engine software development across a broad range of products and valuable networking with platform, machine, and display software development teams. Key Contributions & Responsibilities Perform software requirements analysis; develop embedded software library activities. Execute software configuration and build processes; set up and configure test bench hardware and software. Create, execute, and document test plans; complete mandatory and feature-specific testing using manual and automated methods. Provide customer support for system and software troubleshooting; resolve software and system defects. Team Structure & Work Environment You will work within an application and library team that includes an application lead, systems engineers, validation engineers, software architects, and developers — collaborating across platform, machine, and display software development teams. Work environment is primarily office-based with desk development equipment and some soft lab work. This is a fully on-site role in Mossville, IL. Requirements Education & Experience 5+ years of relevant industry experience required. A four-year degree is required; two-year (associate's) degrees will not be considered. Internship experience will not be counted toward the required years of experience. Top 3 Skills 5+ years of industry experience in C programming for embedded control software development. 5+ years of Model Based Development (MBD) experience. Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with familiarity with debugger tools and workflows. Desired Technical Skills Experience with communications software, protocols, and related tools. Embedded operating system experience. Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Stateflow. Experience with scripting languages such as Python. Experience with engine or machine controls development. Experience working with and troubleshooting electrical systems. Prior experience with CAN/SAE J1939 and Ethernet protocols. Required Soft Skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment, clearly communicating technical information and development progress to team members and stakeholders. Strong analytical skills with solid organizational and time management abilities.
