Job Description:
Role Overview We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the student loan segment of a cross-servicing federal government debt collection program. This individual contributor role is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant software solutions within a highly regulated federal environment. This position requires deep expertise in ArtivaRM and strong software engineering fundamentals. The Software Engineer will serve as a key technical partner to Federal Product Management and CSNG leadership, owning delivery across development, enhancements, and production support while ensuring adherence to federal security, data handling, and operational standards. Key Responsibilities Technical Delivery & Engineering Ownership Own end-to-end technical delivery for CSNG-specific development, including enhancements, new features, and defect resolution Design, develop, and maintain scalable and maintainable software solutions aligned with company standards and the Ontario Systems Development Framework (ODF) Interpret high-level and detailed requirements and translate them into effective technical designs and implementations Ensure all code meets quality standards through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices Integrate developed solutions into enterprise platforms and ensure long-term system stability Federal Program Partnership & Compliance Serve as a engineering partner to Federal Product Management and CSNG leadership Ensure all solutions comply with federal security, data privacy, and operational requirements Support audit readiness through proper documentation and controlled development practices Align engineering efforts with program objectives in a regulated federal environment Design, Planning & Estimation Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to refine requirements and technical solutions Develop detailed design specifications and construction estimates for development efforts Evaluate design alternatives and recommend solutions that balance performance, scalability, and compliance Support capacity planning and ensure alignment with contractual staffing requirements Production Support & Issue Resolution Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects within the ArtivaRM platform Partner with support teams, testers, and stakeholders to diagnose issues and determine root causes Reproduce issues in test environments and implement durable solutions Maintain system performance, reliability, and compliance in production environments Collaboration & Coordination Coordinate work across dedicated CSNG engineers and shared cloud/platform teams Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and technical walkthroughs to uphold engineering standards Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership Contribute to internal and external documentation related to system functionality and changes Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Deep hands-on experience with ArtivaRM Strong experience developing software within structured SDLC frameworks (e.g., ODF or similar) Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, Java, Node.js, SQL) Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Cache) Demonstrated experience in debugging, root cause analysis, and production support Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal or government-regulated programs Familiarity with federal security frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST) Background in debt collection, accounts receivable, or student loan servicing Experience working across shared services or cloud-based infrastructure teams Knowledge of Microsoft technology stack (e.g., .NET Framework, SQL Server, SSIS/SSRS) Equal employment opportunity, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
