Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Architect for Mergers & Acquisitions serves as a senior technical leader responsible for integrating applications into our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) using ServiceNow and following the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework, inclusive of application enablement and identity access management. This position augments the leadership of the Director of Portfolio Governance, including the responsibility of full application mapping and certification, as well as providing guidance on authentication using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
This role bridges architectural strategy and execution, enabling business transformation through modern, secure, and scalable solutions that align with CIS M&A goals. The Senior Staff Architect will collaborate across global IT, cybersecurity, enterprise platforms, portfolio governance, and business functions to deliver high-impact integration outcomes that enhance colleague productivity and experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesM&A Integration Leadership
- Represent Application Enablement across M&A programs, focusing on integrating applications from acquired companies into our CMDB using ServiceNow and application authentication via Microsoft Entra and Active Directory.during due diligence, integration, and stabilization phases
- Lead technical discovery, gap analysis, and integration planning for collaboration, endpoint, and telecom environments
- Partner with leaders to define and execute technical integration blueprints aligning with Thermo Fisher's enterprise architecture standards
- Partner with IMO, PMO, and other CIS teams to ensure on-time, compliant, and high-quality delivery of all integration milestones
- Drive post-close optimization through standardization, modernization, and automation initiatives.
- Lead architecture, roadmap, and strategy for application enablement workstreams within M&A programs
- Evaluate and design scalable, secure, and compliant application architectures
- Translate complex business requirements into technical designs and operational plans
- Partner with platform owners to ensure alignment with corporate standards, governance, and lifecycle management
- Support modernization initiatives to enhance automation, application management, and user experience.
- Act as the senior technical representative in integration workshops with business, IT, and vendor partners
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Identity and Access Management, Cybersecurity, and Networking teams to ensure end-to-end alignment on identity, compliance, and performance standards
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and architects involved in integration activities
- Build strong relationships across CIS, ETO, Portfolio Governance, Identity and Access Management, and business leadership to align technology strategy with organizational objectives.
- Document and maintain integration standards, playbooks, and documentation for M&A portfolio governance and identity and access management technologies
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement within M&A integration workflows
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement processes to enhance future integrations
- Establish measurable KPIs and success metrics for M&A endpoint and collaboration outcomes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including CMDB / CSDM, application and service mapping, Identity and Access management, and enterprise architecture
- 5+ years of technical leadership experience in M&A integrations or equivalent complex enterprise transformation programs
- Experience with, and knowledge of, the ITIL framework as well as ITSM
- Technical proficiency with Active Directory, SSO, IAM tools, and security technologies
- Knowledge of cloud-based IAM technologies such as AWS IAM and Azure AD is preferred
- Experience in implementing large-scale multi-factor authentication solutions
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven problem-solving, analytical thinking, and leadership abilities.
- Experience working within a regulated, global enterprise (e.g., life sciences, healthcare, or manufacturing)
- ITIL Certification or experience with implementing IT Service Management processesExperience with change management and technology standardization during post-merger integrations
- Certified ServiceNow Administrator or experience working with ServiceNow
- Familiarity with Lean / PPI methodologies for process optimization.
Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $143,000.00
