Job Title:
Embedded Software Engineer Job Description Join our dynamic team to design and support embedded software solutions that power aerospace systems and subsystems. You will translate system and hardware concepts into reliable software implementations through close collaboration with engineering stakeholders. Responsibilities Support software efforts from initial concept through integration, verification, deployment, and long-term sustainment. Analyze and resolve software defects using structured debugging and performance optimization techniques. Review software designs and source code to promote quality, consistency, and maintainability. Participate in integration and verification activities to confirm software performance within complete system environments. Prepare and maintain technical documentation that supports development, testing, certification, and end users. Collaborate across disciplines—including systems engineering, hardware, and program leadership—to meet project objectives. Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance development processes, tools, and engineering practices. Essential Skills Proficiency in embedded software and real-time operating systems. Experience in designing, debugging, and testing embedded software solutions. Familiarity with DO-178C compliance and version control systems such as Git. At least five (5) years of professional experience developing embedded or real-time software solutions. Strong proficiency in low-level programming languages such as C (assembly experience a plus). Experience working with real-time operating systems and embedded development environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Solid understanding of structured software development practices across the full lifecycle. Familiarity with compliance-driven or safety-critical software development standards (e.g., aerospace or avionics guidance frameworks). Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple technical tasks while working collaboratively in a team setting. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Work Environment The position is based in an engineering and production environment located in Lexington Park, MD. As a product company supporting the design and build of UAV systems, the role requires working onsite Monday through Friday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollywood, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $79.33/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
