FUNCTION
We are seeking a talented and experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing embedded software for aircraft applications. This role requires a strong background in embedded systems, and a passion for innovation in the aerospace industry.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and test embedded software for aerospace systems and components. Collaborate with hardware engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration. Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals. Perform software debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure high performance and reliability. Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Participate in system-level testing and validation to ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and regulations. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded software development. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software development processes and tools. Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in the aerospace industry. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly languages. Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development tools. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations, such as DO-178C. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities. Ability to obtain a security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in a related field. Experience with version control systems, such as Git, is highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require occasional travel to support testing and integration activities. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
