You will architect manufacturing processes inside a structured quoting database and serve as the primary field contact to ensure technically sound, commercially viable outcomes.
Preferred residence:
near Kentwood, MI; Marshall, MI; or Wellington, OH. A Day in the
Life Early:
Review new RFQs and prints, map out process flows (milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive finishing, heat and surface treatments, tooling/fixtures, work holding, and gaging), then generate first-draft pricing through our database-driven quotation system.
Mid-morning:
Analyze engineering cycle times, process layouts, and manufacturing costs; validate assumptions against material specs, cleanliness/particle count thresholds, and gage plans.
Late morning:
Join plant and customer calls to align on technical expectations, share immediate feedback, and capture action items.
Afternoon:
Head into the field—supplier, customer, or factory—for real-time inspections and troubleshooting; translate observations into corrective actions and ideas.
End of day:
Compile concise reports, disseminate key updates to the right stakeholders, log KPIs, and follow up on quotations with plants and customers. What You'll Deliver Confident application of precision machining knowledge across milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive finishing, heat/surface treatments, tooling, fixtures, work holding, and gaging. Accurate cycle calculations, clear process layouts, and cost rollups that support competitive, feasible quotes. Immediate, accurate interpretation of technical documentation: part prints, material specifications, process flow diagrams, and cleanliness/particle count standards. Hands-on troubleshooting and solution proposals for complex technical issues. Support to quality initiatives, including APQP activities. On-site, real-time inspection and problem solving at customer or factory locations. Relationship-building that earns trust with internal teams and customers. Field management discipline—visiting suppliers, customers, and factories to keep projects moving.
Structured communication:
timely reports, targeted information sharing, and performance indicator tracking. Active participation in meetings and conference calls with plants and customers, plus diligent quote follow-up. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 3 years in manufacturing/machining/gear manufacturing; or demonstrated project management experience with 5+ years overall. Practical background in sales or customer support. Working knowledge spanning precision machining technologies: milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive finishing, surface and edge finishing, heat and surface treatments, tooling, fixtures, work holding, and gaging.
