Senior Application Engineer Location:
Novi, MI (Hybrid/On-site)
Employment Type:
Full-Time, Salaried Position Overview A global engineering and technology organization is seeking a self-motivated Senior Application Engineer to join its Global Application Engineering team. This group serves as a critical technical bridge between global offices, customers, and internal product development teams by providing advanced product support, technical expertise, and application guidance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and influencing product direction through real-world application insight. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary technical interface between regional offices, customers, and internal development teams
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of company products and related industry standards
  • Provide high-quality, timely second-level technical support to internal teams and customers
  • Investigate, document, and track customer-reported issues, bugs, and feature requests
  • Maintain accurate customer interaction records within internal databases
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation such as application notes and usage guides
  • Stay current on third-party tools and competitive products within the market
  • Support product development teams with feedback, use cases, and technical guidance
  • Participate in product testing and validation prior to market release
  • Create product demos and application examples to support pre-sales activities
  • Represent the organization at industry trade shows and conferences
  • Travel to customer locations within Southeast Michigan, with occasional domestic or international travel as needed
  • Translate customer needs into technical solutions that add value to products and services Required Qualifications Essential Technical Experience
  • Hands-on experience with ECU calibration tools
  • Strong understanding of electronic control system development processes
  • Knowledge of software and hardware system architectures
  • Working knowledge of vehicle instrumentation
  • Experience with software scripting or programming
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity with automotive communication and diagnostic protocols
  • Experience working across diverse applications and emerging technologies
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB® and Simulink® or related modeling tools Bonus Qualifications
  • Previous experience with similar automotive calibration or application engineering products Essential Soft Skills
  • Proactive, positive attitude with a strong work ethic
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent listening and customer interaction abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Awareness of sales opportunities and customer impact
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
