Sr. Software Engineer & Team Lead This opportunity is with one of Gardner Standard's portfolio companies, Shadin Avionics, located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Position Overview Shadin Avionics is seeking a highly experienced Sr. Software Engineer & Team Lead to lead the development, execution, and testing of embedded software solutions in a highly regulated aerospace environment. This individual will provide both technical leadership and people leadership, guiding a team of software development and test engineers while contributing directly to the design and certification of next-generation avionics products. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software development and software test engineers. Plan, resource, and execute engineering projects to meet customer and business requirements. Develop embedded software and firmware for avionics systems using C and assembly language. Manage software development activities in accordance with DO-178 processes, including requirements traceability, coding standards, verification, and certification support. Drive project schedules, optimize engineering resources, and remove obstacles impacting execution. Ensure software quality, reliability, and compliance with aerospace standards and customer expectations. Support FAA certification efforts and documentation required for product releases. Participate in software architecture development, proposal generation, and requirements definition. Collaborate closely with systems, hardware, quality, and program management teams to deliver innovative aerospace solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 8+ years of software engineering experience within a regulated industry such as aerospace, defense, medical device, or automotive. Prior experience leading engineering teams, projects, or technical development efforts. Strong embedded software development experience, including C programming and firmware development. Experience with aerospace standards and technologies such as:
DO-178 DO-254 ARINC 429 MIL-STD-1553 DO-160 MIL-STD-461 MIL-STD-810
Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS and familiarity with LDRA tools is a plus. Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
