Caterpillar's BCP Advanced Tech Group is hiring a Sr. Engineering Specialist to join the Advanced Engineering Team of Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) division. In this position, the successful candidate will be working on a team of highly technical, product development professionals to identify, test, and proof-of-concept new technologies that support BCP product groups' multi-generational product plans (MGPPs) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. Although not exclusively constrained to the following areas, these new technologies will be heavily related to autonomy and operator assist systems, controls and integrated mechanical and electrical systems and embedded software. The successful candidate will also be adept at establishing and growing relationships throughout the rest of Caterpillar and the Caterpillar supply base to leverage investments effectively and ensure the best possible customer solutions are achieved. What You'll Do (Job Duties)
  • Provides technical leadership in Designing advanced control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems
  • Providing technical leadership in designing and implementing software and algorithms to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices
  • Provide technical direction in identifying and addressing areas of product improvements in line with customer needs
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of the requirements for electrical components and systems related to automation of machine tasks such as perception and planning systems and the related computational support
  • Mentor engineers and technologists in the design, development, validation and troubleshooting of electrical and software systems related to automation
  • Provide technical leadership to evaluate both internally developed and supplier-developed systems and assess their potential to meet customer needs
  • Understand the utilization of AI impacting both the development and validation of embedded automation software, subsystems and machine systems
  • Take a leading role to stay abreast of the regulatory environment related to assist and automation systems for mobile equipment and the verification and validation methods used in the off-highway and adjacent industries What You Have (Core Skills)
  • Communication
  • level extensive experience: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding. The ability to develop close working relationships with internal partners, external partners and customers.
  • Technical Excellence
  • level extensive experience: Previous and direct experience in automation, onboard software & control systems, electrical system development and connectivity.
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • level working knowledge: Knowledge of the concepts, technologies and methodologies of artificial intelligence (AI); ability to develop, implement and/or apply artificial intelligence products and services in specific industry domain to achieve business goals.
  • Software Product Design/Architecture
  • level extensive experience: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into product design.
  • Embedded Systems
  • level extensive experience: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within. Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum. Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Demonstrated skills to provide technical mentorship and skills development of engineering and technologists in working teams
Relationship Management:
Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical products and services from concept to customer, including the resolution of customer improvements after delivery Additional Details

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00
  • $221,640.
00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
