Job Description
Solution Architect The Solution Architect is an expert in a specific technology domain, including its design principles, technology baselines, and associated solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural frameworks and how IT systems integrate with business processes. The Solution Architect delivers technology roadmaps, advises at both engineering and business levels, and maintains an understanding of cross domain relationships, including information security. Key Accountabilites + Shape the enterprise architecture based on business needs and technology efficiency. Ensure adherence to standards and direction across technical domains. + Develop and maintain technology roadmaps within specific domains, applying deep knowledge of domain technologies and their business context. + Provide cross project architectural governance, ensuring alignment with relevant strategies, policies, and roadmaps. + Offer strategic consultation on innovation, emerging technologies, concept development, and best practices. + Partner with IT engineers to develop solutions and design standards; lead long term capability development from concept through implementation. + Model and assess baseline architecture and services within the domain. Work with internal and external experts to understand system capacity, constraints, and support lifecycles. + Identify unnecessary complexity and potential failure points and develop plans to simplify or resolve them. + Participate in Architectural Governance and Review Boards; ensure projects and procurement remain aligned with approved architectural direction. + Build strong relationships with technology teams and business partners to improve alignment between technology initiatives and business strategies. Your expertise will directly influence how systems are designed, integrated, and scaled to support reliable operations and future growth. As a key architectural leader, you will help drive modernization, reduce complexity, strengthen cyber resilience, and align technology capabilities with OPPD's business needs and long¿term strategy. Qualifications What You'll Bring•
Required:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline or a combination of education and work experience that provides the necessary skills to perform the essential job functions. + Minimum of eight (8) years of technical experience in at least two IT disciplines.Examples:
client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, software development, data networking, middleware, cloud, storage, virtualization, data management, or infrastructure. + Ability to effectively partner with cyber security management to ensure the application of best practices to all designs and solutions. + Ability to produce, enhance, and drive architecture roadmaps and associated principles + Demonstrated ability to communicate and present at technical and management levels + Ability to participate in innovation activities such as ideation, prototype development, and real world application evaluations + Maintain an open and candid working relationship with team and immediate supervisor + Ability to translate between business and technology + Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation with strong leadership skills. + Able to produce clear documentation at a technical and business level + Results oriented, self-motivated, resourceful team player + Understanding and experience with either TOGAF and/or Zachman framework.Desired:
