Job Description Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. Join the Developer Tooling team within the Group Chief technology office, where you'll help shape a connected application engineering ecosystem that empowers developers to modernize seamlessly and sustainably. This role offers the opportunity to build tools that directly impact thousands of engineers across Barclays, enabling secure, efficient, and compliant software delivery in a highly regulated environment. The applications you'll work on in the developer tooling team aim to automate procurement, standardization, storage, and distribution of core developer required software tools across a wide range of distribution channels, including laptop and VDI devices; container runtime images; continuous integration build nodes; virtual machines. To be successful as a Full Stack Software Engineer, you should have: Proven background in software or systems engineering within technical environments Advanced proficiency in Golang and/or Java, with practical application of the Spring Framework Experience working with CI/CD tools including Jenkins and GitLab to streamline development workflows Understanding of containerization using Docker, container registries, and runtime platforms, with deployment across Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, or AWS ECS/Fargate/EKS Collaborative development experience within Agile and Scrum teams, contributing to iterative delivery and continuous improvement Some other highly valued skills may include: Experience with Kotlin, .NET or other object-oriented programming languages Proficiency in front-end technologies like JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Angular Knowledge of SQL databases, particularly MS SQL and Postgres Exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Ability to contribute across the full software lifecycle—from architecture and design to deployment and support You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in this role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills. This role is located in Whippany, NJ.
Minimum Salary:
$120,000
Maximum Salary:
$175,000 The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available. This position is eligible for an incentive award.
