Job Description

About Us:
Koellmann Gear Corp. is a recognized leader in the design and distribution of high-performance gearboxes and power transmission solutions. We specialize in engineering robust, reliable drive systems—including specialized gearboxes for single-screw extrusion—and we partner closely with OEM machine builders to integrate our technology into their equipment. We are looking for a highly technical and customer-focused Applications Engineer to join our New Jersey team.
Position Overview:
The Applications Engineer will serve as the primary technical bridge between our products and our customers' machinery. You will review customer specifications, recommend the optimal gearbox and power transmission solutions, and use AutoCAD to ensure seamless mechanical integration into OEM designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Consultation:
Partner with the sales team and directly with OEM machine builders to understand their specific power transmission requirements, load profiles, and operational parameters.
Product Selection & Sizing:
Analyze mechanical requirements to select, size, and specify the correct gearboxes and drive components for various industrial applications (including extrusion and custom machinery). Design & Integration (AutoCAD): Utilize AutoCAD to generate, modify, and review application drawings, assembly layouts, and installation models to ensure our products fit perfectly within the customer's equipment.
Customer Support:
Troubleshoot technical issues, answer engineering inquiries, and provide ongoing support from the initial quote through to installation and commissioning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with manufacturing, sales, and global engineering teams to communicate custom design modifications and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a closely related technical field. Proven experience working with gearboxes, rotating equipment, and general power transmission systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience adapting 2D/3D models for customer applications is essential). Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Prior experience working with OEM machine builders or in industrial technical sales support is a strong plus.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary and performance-based incentives Comprehensive benefits package Retirement savings plan Paid time off and holidays Opportunity to work with top-tier OEMs and advanced manufacturing systems
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
