What You Will Do We are seeking a Solutions Architect 4 (SA-4) to join Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)'s Special Security IT & Cyber Operations (SSO-3) team. In this role, you will perform network and systems architecture deployment and documentation for critical classified networks accredited by DOE-IN in support of multiple Strategic Intelligence Partnership Projects. You will be responsible for working with the Cybersecurity Team, Linux Team, Network Team, and Windows Team to perform architecture deployments both onsite and offsite, while creating robust process documentation sets in support of audit readiness. This position plays a critical role in protecting national security systems and ensuring compliance with federal and intelligence community cybersecurity frameworks. The optimal candidate will have experience with both full-stack IT deployments andDOE / NNSA
Cybersecurity requirements. Initial duties include modernization of hardware and software across disciplines to first perform offsite IT modernization, followed by full-enterprise infrastructure modernization at local sites to ensure audit readiness and compliance. As a member of the Special Security IT & Cyber Operations (SSO-3) team, your responsibilities will include:- Architecting, provisioning, deploying, and maintaining compliant and accredited infrastructure to local and remote sites:
- Networking equipment (firewalls, switches, routers)
- Windows-based clients
- All other intermediary components as required for unique site needs (VTC, VOIP, unique peripherals / scientific equipment)
- Integration with peer technical and compliance teams, including Cybersecurity, to develop secure and compliant solutions to meet IC requirements:
- Gap analysis
- Identification of process or policy gaps per recent IC guidance
- Creation of IT policies, procedures, or modernization projects to meet gaps
- Cybersecurity collaboration to implement upcoming requirements
- Highest-tier escalation of IT issues and problems spanning multiple disciplines.
- Providing technical leadership through mentorship and technical oversight of junior staff (CSP1-4, NP1-4).
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements:
- Extensive experience managing both SCIF and SAPF environments for sponsors with varying requirements and implementation preferences.
- Expert-level knowledge of secure network deployments, specifically with Cisco and Windows components.
- Expert-level knowledge of compliance and best-practices for IC networks.
- Proven ability to lead and execute complex deployments of networks to both local and remote-managed sites.
- Experience participating in change management for accredited systems.
- Deep understanding of secure systems engineering and cybersecurity principles.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and effectively manage competing priorities in high-consequence environments.
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated application of current and future network, telecommunication, data management, security, hardware, software development, and systems programming technologies, how they interoperate, and how to architect complex solutions.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated team-building experience with technologists.
Education/Experience:

TA-55 TRU
Operations-Graveyard Shift Team. NPI-6 ensures safe, efficient, and compliant waste management generated at the TA-55 Plutonium Facility, the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research (CMR) building, the TA-50 Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWTF), and the Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building (RLUOB). We also provide ample opportunities to learn new skillsets and maintain a supportive environment when challenges arise. How we do our work is just as important as what we do. Our team members comply with a variety of nuclear management related requirements; work independently on challenging concurrent projects requiring close cooperation, adaptability, initiative, and willingness to provide support wherever needed to meet LANL's National Security Mission. The Nuclear and Hazardous Materials Tec will interface with teams within the NPI division, with other groups within TA-55 and the Laboratory. The Tecs also provide support to move, load, transport, and store hazardous containers and/or waste material. As well as perform and review inspection and characterization information on containers to insure proper handling and storage. Specific duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to: technical assistance in fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, analytical instrumentation, handling drums and/or other containers of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes, operating forklifts and/or other mechanical loading/handling equipment, and performing nuclear material move transactions. The person filling this position will be required to work non-normal business hours.Weekday Night Shift:
Monday- Thursday 5:00pm
- 3:30am as required to meet facility objectives.
Shift Differential Pay:
This position is eligible for differential pay. Nuclear and Hazardous Materials Technician 2- Graveyard Shift ($54,900

- Performs work at the semi-skilled technician level.
- Monitors VI/VE activities to prevent prohibited items, sort, segregate and repackage waste items.
- Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to the management of hazardous wastes and hazardous materials.
- Operates forklifts and/or other machinery to aid in the handling and/or loading of waste containers. Nuclear and Hazardous Materials Tec 3 ($64,700

- Ensures all work, materials, processes and final product meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
- Conducts technical work in the laboratory space or work area, as directed by or discussed with supervisor
- Under minimal supervision moves, loads, transports, packages, and/or stores drums and/or other containers of hazardous waste and/or hazardous materials.
- Under minimal supervision, performs and reviews inspection and characterization information on containers to ensure proper handling and/or storage.
- Performs the upkeep and maintenance of records reflecting storage area, inventory and inspections, waste profiles, disposal requests, shipping paperwork, and waste characterization information.
- An ability to perform visual inspection activities to prevent prohibited items, sort, segregate and repackage waste items.
- Assists in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting material handling, waste handling or manufactured items

Develops and maintains facility operations-focused programs, policies, processes, and procedures in support of safe and compliant facility operations.
