Job Description

Met One Instruments, Inc. provides high performance instrumentation for regulatory compliance monitoring of ambient air quality according to global regulatory (i.e. US EPA and many others) standards. Our products measure criteria pollutant gasses and particulate matter, as well as meteorological parameters. We are seeking a skilled applications engineer to provide technical applications and instrumentation support for our customer base, who are typically government regulatory agencies, engineering and consulting companies, and global systems integration and distribution partners. Position Summary Most of the applications engineering work is performed remotely at the customers' site, or in one of our laboratory or factory locations. The remainder of support work will be handled remotely to support customers by email, phone and video conferencing. Strong technical aptitude and excellent customer facing skills are essential to succeed in this role. Established understanding of these applications and global understanding of ambient air monitoring regulations are a significant plus. 25-50% travel should be expected. Essential Functions Assists in research and development, calibration, repair, evaluation, experimentation, testing and assembly of mechanical/electromechanical prototypes & current products - including methods and materials. Analyze data, complete reports and support marketing material development. Works closely with sales, marketing, engineering, and customer service team members to recommend product concepts, design changes or modifications to existing instrumentation, that help support customer needs. Assist or lead the creation, review and/or revision of technical drawings, manuals, plans, specifications, including manual development for new products. Assures system and product quality by following various and often changing testing methods to test finished-product, system capabilities and more Perform detailed documentation by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering, manufacturing, vendors and sales teams domestically and internationally as assigned. Maintains systems and products databases. Liaison and oversight with regulatory entities such as (not limited to) TUV, ROHS, Conformity European (CE). Oversight of equipment field testing, liaison with site operators and provide service as needed. Education & Experience Bachelor of Science degree in any of the physical sciences; electronics, physics, environmental, geo-technology, engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education & experience. 5+ years' experience working in an engineering position with increasing responsibilities, preferably in manufacturing. Superior computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with Google Workspace a plus.
