Job Description

Job Summary Community Health Systems is hiring a Foreign Systems Interface Specialist to join our EHR Team. As the Foreign Systems Interface Specialist, you will be responsible for the technical planning and oversight of interface installation. The Foreign Systems Interface Specialist will be installing/configuring Cerner interfaces to connect with disparate systems and code custom interfaces as well. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex interface issues, which would require a good understanding of networking, database querying, and programming concepts. You are also expected to support interface validation/testing/deployment/documentation during the life cycle of the project. This highly technical and hands-on position requires the incumbent to work in a team and individual work setting contributing to all aspects of system integration including design, needs analysis, design review, testing, implementation, and validation. Essential Functions The Foreign Systems Interface Specialist, you will be responsible for the technical planning and oversight of interface installation. Manage the complex technical projects in environments with a high degree of variability that require influence to achieve targeted outcomes. Configuration and management of Cerner Open Engine, HL7 and EDI transactions. Create project and process documentation for interface, applications and operating system environment; Include filtering, message customizations, problem resolution, Root Cause Analysis, and alerting. Consult with internal project stakeholders, Business Partners, and organizational teams to bi- directionally share configuration status, project timelines and project updates, and verify configuration requests. Installing/configuring Cerner interfaces to connect with disparate systems and code custom interfaces. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex interface issues, which would require a good understanding of networking, database querying, and programming concepts. You are also expected to support interface validation/testing/deployment/documentation during the life cycle of the project. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience At least 8 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including: Experience with an integration engine (Mirth, Cloverleaf, Corepoint etc.) Experience with HL7/X12 standards Experience with Cerner Open Engine and Cerner Millennium FSI utilities and data architecture such as SI Manager, Open Engine and related tables Proficient in Cerner Command Language (CCL) or SQL programming experience Scripting & Configuration experience preferred (ie AIX/Linux, Sequel series, non standard protocol) Hands-on experience with both current and emerging interoperability standards such as Health Level Seven International (HL7) V2.x, V3, Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), CCD, JSON and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) required. Experience with SOAP and/or RESTful API connection projects required. 8 year's experience working with Cerner Millennium Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Employee is required to read, review, prepare and analyze written data and figures, using a PC or similar, and should possess visual acuity. The Employee may be required to occasionally climb, push, stand, walk, reach, grasp, kneel, stoop, and/or perform repetitive motions. The Employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and; therefore, job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found within general office or administrative work.
