Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Architecture to lead architecture strategy and solution design for a large-scale, business-critical data and platform transformation program. This role will play a key leadership position in shaping scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions across a complex multi-cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP). The Director will partner closely with business and technology leaders to align architecture with program goals, guide solution delivery, and ensure consistency across multiple workstreams and platforms. You will work across a diverse ecosystem of data, applications, and integration layers—driving architectural direction for modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) and enabling advanced analytics and AI capabilities. This is a highly visible role requiring a balance of hands-on architectural expertise, program-level leadership, and strong stakeholder engagement. Job Description Lead architecture strategy and governance across a large-scale, multi-cloud data and platform program Define and drive architecture standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability across solutions Oversee end-to-end solution architecture across complex environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), guiding teams in designing scalable and resilient systems Translate business and program requirements into practical, high-quality architecture and technical solutions Lead design reviews and ensure alignment with agreed architectural patterns and standards Drive the design and evolution of modern data platforms using technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and lakehouse/data mesh architectures Architect data warehousing, data integration, and analytics solutions supporting high-volume, large-scale data processing Enable advanced analytics, AI/ML, and automation capabilities across the data lifecycle Define and deliver the roadmap for a cloud-scale, governed data platform, reducing redundancy and improving overall data maturity Support adoption of a data-as-a-product model with clear ownership, SLAs, and lifecycle management for curated data products Partner closely with product, engineering, infrastructure, and downstream teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment across systems Work with stakeholders to define architecture roadmaps, priorities, and investment decisions aligned to program goals Drive performance, scalability, and reliability across applications, data pipelines, and workflows Lead cost optimization initiatives, including compute, storage, and orchestration efficiency (FinOps practices) Identify and mitigate risks related to scale, performance, cost, and system reliability Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives to assess business value Drive adoption of modern capabilities across cloud, data, and AI platforms Mentor engineering and architecture teams, promoting best practices and strong technical decision-making Provide guidance on solution design, workflow orchestration, and implementation approaches Qualifications 12+ years of experience in architecture, engineering, or large-scale platform roles Proven experience designing and delivering solutions in multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) Strong expertise in modern data platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks, and data warehousing solutions Hands-on background with large-scale data processing, integration, and analytics in complex environments Deep understanding of: Data architecture (data warehousing, lakehouse, integration patterns) Distributed systems and high-volume data processing Cloud-native architecture and platform design Experience working with modern data ecosystems, including enabling AI/ML and advanced analytics capabilities Strong experience in architecture governance, including design reviews, standards enforcement, and solution approvals Proven ability to translate business and program requirements into scalable, practical technical solutions Experience building scalable platforms, reusable frameworks, or shared services Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices for large-scale environments Exposure to AI/ML platform enablement and automation across the data lifecycle IQVIA is a leading global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights and healthcare intelligence to the life sciences and healthcare industries. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
