T-SQL Full Job Description Summary:
Vital Services is seeking a talented and experienced Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our growing Application Engineering team. This is an extraordinary opportunity to be a part of, and play an integral role in, the expansion of our Information Technology team. As a software developer, you will be a technical lead working for our accounting and financial reporting applications, specifically supporting our partnership with one or more clients. This is an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys the intersection of software development and data architecture. While we are primarily seeking a mid-level professional who can hit the ground running, we are open to Junior candidates who demonstrate exceptional analytical aptitude and a strong foundational grasp of SQL and C#. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Software Engineer include the following:
Technical Ownership:
Serve as the primary engineer for creating, modifying, and maintaining complex SQL Server stored procedures.
Financial Reporting:
Partner with Accounting teams to gather requirements and translate them into high-fidelity data reports.
Systems Integration:
Manage the deployment and maintenance of ad hoc reports within Vertafore's IMS (Insurance Management System).
Software Development:
Use C# and Visual Studio to build custom reporting solutions that bypass the limitations of standard management systems.
Data Quality Assurance:
Investigate and resolve data inconsistencies across disparate systems to ensure reporting accuracy.
Tool Modernization:
Utilize ActiveReports (v10) to create professional, highly-formatted financial documents. Develop, maintain, and support new and existing web sites, web applications, and desktop applications for our clients. Create clean, precise code and reusable code libraries. Develop test cases, execute test plans and debug programs. Work within the team to complete projects on time. Maintain on-going communication with project team throughout the development cycle. Create documents and other artifacts to promote sustainable knowledge management within the organization. Contribute to the discovery and proposal of creative solutions to solve our clients' problems. Continuously enhance technical skills to keep up with new / emerging technologies and industry trends. Qualifications of the Software Engineer include:
SQL:
Advanced proficiency in SQL (T-SQL preferred), including performance tuning and complex logic.
Development Stack:
Solid experience with C# and the .NET framework in a Visual Studio environment.
Problem Solving:
A "detective" mindset—you enjoy digging into data to find out why two numbers don't match.
Business Acumen:
Basic understanding of Accounting (ledgers/credits/debits) and Insurance concepts. Experience working on development projects in the commercial insurance industry a plus. Education and / or Experience 2-5 years in software development or data engineering (Open to Junior candidates with a strong portfolio / internship background). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related, field preferred. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Sitting 80%•Standing/walking 20% Low to Moderate noise levels in office setting. Frequent client and interoffice personnel interaction. Near Vision•The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) as required for computer software programs.
Compensation & Culture Salary Range:
$95,000•$115,000 (Mid-Level)•Final offer will be commensurate with experience and technical assessment results.
