Job Description

Federal Mulesoft Architect Location:
Remote ( US-based, strong preference for DC Metro Area ) The MuleSoft Architect provides technical leadership and expertise in designing, implementing, and governing Enterprise Integration solutions using MuleSoft within complex Federal government environments. This role is crucial for ensuring Thunder's integration strategies are secure, scalable, and aligned with mission objectives and agency compliance standards. Responsibilities Design and document comprehensive, end-to-end integration architectures and API strategies using MuleSoft to connect various Federal systems (on-premise, cloud, legacy). Ensure all integration designs comply with relevant Federal security standards (e.g., FISMA, Fed
RAMP, ATO
requirements) and data compliance policies. Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Anypoint Monitoring, Splunk, AppDynamics) to ensure operational resilience. Design and maintain integration patterns that align with Zero Trust Architecture, Federal Identity, and ICAM initiatives. Design and support CI/CD pipelines for MuleSoft deployments aligned with agency DevSecOps standards. Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, and Project Managers to validate requirements and translate them into robust, scalable technical designs. Mentor and guide technical development teams on MuleSoft best practices, security protocols, and performance tuning. Support pre-sales activities, including the development of integration strategies, technical proposal writing, and effort estimation for Federal engagements. Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure solutions meet architectural standards and security requirements. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in enterprise application integration, with 3+ years specifically in a Solution/Integration Architect role using MuleSoft. Knowledge of integrating MuleSoft with Salesforce Government Cloud or other COTS/SaaS products is preferred. 3+ years of experience working on Federal or Public Sector integration programs, spanning hybrid deployments that include AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, or on-premise data centers. Deep understanding of integration design patterns, API-led connectivity, microservices architecture, and common Federal security standards (e.g., FISMA, Fed
RAMP, ATO
process). Experience with PKI, TLS, and key/certificate management within federal environments. Proven ability to lead technical design workshops and clearly communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical Federal stakeholders. Collaborate effectively within a multi-vendor environment, coordinating with diverse contractors, government leads, and systems integrators to ensure seamless interoperability and project success. Must be a U.S. Citizen (required). Willingness to attain a U.S. Security Clearance (e.g., Public Trust, Secret) as required by specific projects. Current clearance is not required to apply. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required; advanced degree preferred.
