Position Summary:
This role is in the Bioinformatics Software team
- you will be responsible for the software that is used in the clinical laboratory to process patient samples and analyze their genomic profiles, finding the right treatment options for cancer patients based on a simple blood draw.
You will participate in a small team following agile methodology. Your role would be to implement new solutions and architectures to solve complex problems in a clinical NGS setting, creating new tooling and software solutions to deliver results to patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with users and product managers to gather and refine requirements.
- Maintain and extend the applications RESTful web service / APIs in Python.
- Design and implement solutions end-end from user interface through persistent storage.
- Provide written documentation and specifications of software products and services. Preferably in a regulated environment such as IVD or CLIA.
- Ability to Verify and Validate software written according to SOP
- Integrated use of LLM tools in all aspects of development, from planning to execution.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience developing software in production environment
- Strong understanding of Python
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using object-oriented programming and design patterns in production environments
- Working knowledge of FastAPI or other python API frameworks
- Working knowledge of managing and deploying Docker images on a K8s environment
- Experience working with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL
- Effective communicator with written and verbal fluency in English.
- Detail oriented with an initiative to drive tasks to completion.
- Ability to work well in a rapid-pace environment
- Ability to work well in a group and independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrable ability to perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this position.
Hybrid Work Model:
This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. This range does not include benefits or, if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, education, job-related skills, job duties, and business need.

- $176,985 Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.
Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
