Software Development Engineer Job Description This role focuses on supporting the migration of mission-critical functionality from a legacy ground station to a new ground station architecture. The work involves preserving and modernizing a large body of space-system analytical scripts originally developed by aerospace engineers, primarily using Python, MATLAB, and Bash in a Linux environment. The new ground station is cloud-based and service-oriented, leveraging RESTful interfaces, and requires refactoring legacy tools into scalable services. The effort supports improved telemetry processing and visualization within the modernized ground ecosystem. Responsibilities Support the migration of mission-critical functionalities from a legacy ground station to a new architecture. Preserve and modernize space-system analytical scripts originally developed by aerospace engineers. Utilize Python, MATLAB, and Bash in a Linux environment to update existing scripts. Refactor legacy tools into scalable services within a cloud-based, service-oriented architecture. Leverage RESTful interfaces to support improved telemetry processing and visualization. Essential Skills Proficiency in Linux and Python scripting. Experience with cloud solutions and RESTful web services. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with MATLAB. Work Environment Work three days per week onsite with remote work options available. Must be a US Citizen. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westminster, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $90.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
