Software Engineer

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated software developer who has a passion for innovative technology. They will join a multi-disciplinary team for developing and debugging vision software programs. This person is a full stack developer involved with the development of a brand new web-based user interface and the supporting back end along with any relevant documentation, testing, and demonstration. Successful candidates will work in a team environment with opportunities to acquire increasing levels of responsibility. This position is headquartered in Cuyahoga Falls, OH but benefits from a hybrid/flexible schedule.

Primary Purpose of Position:

Development, testing, debugging and maintenance of Applied Vision software products. This position will report to the Director of Software Development.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

• Develop & maintain user-facing web-based front end
• Develop & maintain supporting backend
• Document APIs and designs/processes for internal use
• Debug and fix abnormalities in program code
• Create optimized code to minimize impact on system resources
• Create drafts describing new features for external use
• Create and maintain automated tests for relevant areas
• Collaborate openly with software team members
• Demonstrate new features to internal & external users
• Adopting Agile methodology to develop software
• Support Applied personnel in the field as well as customers as needed
• Infrequent field deployment to launch new features or investigate unreproducible bugs
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
• Robust knowledge of object-oriented programming and inheritance-based designs
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS
• Experience with Windows-based computers
• Familiarity with gRPC, C#/.NET, C++, SQL
• Familiarity with Microsoft development environments, Visual Studio, Azure etc.
• Prior experience working with test-driven development
• Willingness to design, debug, and document solutions based on known requirements
• Ability to communicate and work with a team of engineers

Working Conditions:

The Software Engineer works in a professional office or remote work environment and spends the majority of time developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using computer-based tools. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and viewing computer screens. The role involves regular collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and occasionally working outside normal business hours to support system implementations or resolve critical issues.
