Job Description

Software Engineer II Wabtec Railway Electronics Inc dba Wabtec Corporation seeks Software Engineer II in Germantown, MD.
  • Develop innovative solutions and products for railroad transportation worldwide.
  • Work with a talented team of software, electrical, mechanical, system and test engineers to apply and further develop embedded software and problem-solving skills.
  • Design, code, and test Embedded Software Applications.
  • Perform requirement and design reviews, code reviews, unit testing and releasing software per the Digital Electronics Software process and guidelines.
  • Design, implement, test, and release software, ensuring quality specifications are met.
  • Resolve software issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions as necessary.
  • Drive system requirements review, software architecture and design.
  • and enhance the entire software development life cycle.
  • Perform design and code reviews in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines.
  • Perform and guide the automation of unit, module, system and regression level testing on various software modules and systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with Systems Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Validation, and Electronic Hardware teams.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of related experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 months of related experience. Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of all the following which can be established through any amount of professional experience or university level coursework:
  • C and C++ programming
  • Python and Shell scripting
  • modern OS coding techniques and hardware
  • FPGA Design
  • Digital Circuit Design Telecommuting permitted.
