The Opportunity:
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of our Shared Service & Cloud Enablement portfolio team within Acceptance Solutions org to help design, enhance and build our transactional platform in an agile development environment. You will play part of Shared Services team tasked with multiple projects ranging from building full stack development of real-time transactional services, REST services API, Container based services to highly functional, secure, scalable and resilient real time payment systems. You will work on development, unit testing, code reviews and regular check-ins to continuous integration that will become part of your DNA. You will see the code written and moved to production within just a few days to a week, to then be used by a huge customer base including Facebook, Nike, FedEx, Apple, State Farm, to name a few. The Work itself:
Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa's internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions. Essential Functions:
Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements. Identifies and contributes to the development and solution strategies to team members that improve the design and functionality of interface features across one or more project features, under minimal guidance. Applies standard processes on the use of programming languages (e.g. HTML, C++, Java) to write code that fulfills website modification requests and technical requirements. Collaborates with others to support the piloting of new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user website experience across e-commerce products. Analyzes bugs for simple issues and applies debugging tools to verify assumptions. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience in building large scale enterprise level backend applications using Java, Spring, REST API, RDBMS, NoSQL, Vert.x, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
  • Good analytics & problem-solving skills with a solid foundation in algorithms, data structures and common design patterns.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery, Container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency with Observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, OpenSearch, M3DB,
  • Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, FluentBit, Elastic Search)
  • Experience with TDD using JUNIT/functional automation testing and tools.
  • Proven experience delivering complex software projects and solutions effectively through Agile methodologies on a regular release cadence.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to think big and challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Hands-on experience in AI, particularly Generative AI, is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • GCP or AWS Cloud certifications are a plus. The Skills You Bring

Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.

Work Hours Varies upon the needs of the department. Travel Requirements This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
