Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position specifically works in the Automation Department of igus®. igus offers a variety of robotic and automation components including a 6-axis collaborative robot arm, linear actuators, gantries, and delta robots. We also have a website called RBTX where we simplify the integration of partner parts into our system. As an Automation Engineering Co-op you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced engineering and sales team and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and challenging environment. You will be responsible to support the application engineering team in providing proof of concepts for automation projects for customers and internal use, conduct industry research and build and expand our testing lab. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that designs and creates robotic and automation solutions for clients as well as internal factory automation. Design, build and program setups for robotic and automation workflows Create proof of concept for automation projects Design and setup automation machinery for the igus® Customer Testing Area Conduct research to gain valuable insights into the automation and robotics market Evaluate customer requests, advise on feasibility and solutions Use Python to build automation systems for our showroom, customer visits and tradeshows Develop concepts for igus® internal factory automation and tackle them in a team. Work with international colleagues to exchange experiences and progress.
REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or Mechatronics program. Knowledge of motors such as, stepper, servo, BLDC motors as well as experience with PLCs and driver/controllers.
Strong technical skills:
able to present technical concepts; provide customers with hands-on technique using our products Experience with programming languages like Python Self-starter; motivated, team focused and results driven with developed organizational, and time management skills Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Proficient in the use of MS Office #INDSJ
