Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer (Nuclear Industry) to work on a long-term 1-year contract basis.
Hourly Rate:
up to $70.00 p/h (time and a half for overtime)
Citizenship:
U.S. Citizenship is required
Client Location:
Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
Residency:
Local or Regional candidates are highly preferred Proposed start date: 05/25/2026 Proposed end date: 05/26/2027
Summary:
Our client is seeking an I&C Engineer with recent experience in the Nuclear Industry. Digital system experience is great. You will be involved with projects like the Leading-Edge Flow Meter replacement project, Fire Detection upgrades, Breaker Replacements, HVAC upgrades, and other Nuclear Life Extension (NLE) projects."
Job Duties:
Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of instrumentation and controls (I&C) engineering work in a part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope. Performs work that involves conventional I&C engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, the unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of and practices of related specialties. As a fully competent I&C Engineer, with comprehensive experience in all conventional aspects of the subject matter and functional area of the assignments, plans, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Requires sufficient professional experience to ensure competence as a fully trained worker. Provides procurement and field engineering, including walk-downs, modifications/maintenance, and testing support.
Supervisory responsibilities:
may supervise or coordinate the work of multidisciplinary engineers, CAD Technicians, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degrees from an accredited curriculum, plus appropriate continuing education. Licensed professional engineer desirable. Membership in professional and technical societies is desirable. Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable.
