Job Description

Software Developer - Cloud The Software Developer - Cloud is responsible for designing, building, configuring, and testing cloud platforms, solutions, and integrations. This work is performed across on‑premises cloud and Microsoft Azure public cloud environments, based on IT and business requirements. This position requires a proactive mindset, a strong technical background, and effective end‑user analysis skills to develop and support solutions within the IT organization. The role involves hands‑on experience in designing, developing, and delivering medium‑ to large‑scale solutions. Flexibility, adaptability to a variety of responsibilities and environments, self‑motivation, and a continuous learning mindset are critical success factors. The role requires practical experience with key cloud technologies including Kubernetes, Docker containers, infrastructure automation and configuration tools (such as Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, and Python), logging and monitoring solutions, Docker registries, GitLab or GitHub source code repositories, DevOps tools, and related processes and documentation supporting solution maintenance. Experience in designing prototypes, proofs of concept, and reference models is also required. Core Responsibilities Cloud Development and Container Platforms (40%) Configure Kubernetes clusters and develop scripts to deploy Docker containers through integration with DevOps tools. Understand functional requirements, business processes, inbound and outbound interfaces, load balancing needs, and database requirements to onboard projects into a Container‑as‑a‑Service environment. Maintain strong expertise in Kubernetes master configuration to ensure zero‑downtime deployments and production workload failover. Leverage technical skills to enhance infrastructure provisioning, enabling robust, scalable, and secure application development solutions. Capacity Management and Platform Support (30%) Perform capacity management and provide proactive recommendations to increase capacity as required. Collaborate with end users and IT colleagues to define infrastructure change and system requirements. Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends. Support platform upgrades led by central teams. Partner with Security teams to ensure the development of secure and resilient solutions. Planning, Communication, and Operations (20%) Assist in developing project plans and schedules as required. Track progress against plans and communicate status, risks, and issues to supervisors, colleagues, and stakeholders in a timely manner. Provide operational support and collaborate with managed service providers to resolve production issues. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement (10%) Develop strong, productive relationships with business partners, colleagues, and management. Collaborate with DFS colleagues across regions to build scalable, enterprise‑ready solutions.
