Performs highly complex computer programming work, including the ability to read and understand simple and more complex database objects. Work involves analyzing system outlines to develop programs for computer applications; preparing and developing solution programs; documenting methods and procedures used in program development; and testing, correcting, and revising programs. Works under general supervision. This is a second-chance employer.Qualifications:
Education/Certification/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with significant coursework in computer science (or related degree). Full-time, wage-earning application development experience in browser based or computer desktop environments may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis. This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of relevant application tools and programming language as defined by current needs. Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of programming in a client server environment. Knowledge of personal computer and network hardware, operating systems, software, and peripherals. Knowledge of relational database structures. Skills in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment. Skills to write, test, debug and maintain computer programs. Skill in problem-solving techniques. Skills to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely. Skills to perform detailed work accurately. Skills to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies and organizations. Skills to prioritize work to meet established deadlines. Skills in technical writing and preparing technical reports and documentation. Skills to develop custom applications for use in a stand-alone or network environment. Skills to develop, implement, and evaluate standards and procedures. Skills to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Analyze district needs as outlined by the Windham School District administration regarding detailed data processing equipment requirements and capabilities. Analyze proposed automated data processes in terms of resources and cost justification. Ability to document existing and proposed computer applications. Develop automated systems. Code, prepare test data, test, debug programs and maintain complex applications. Monitor and assist in the evaluation, maintenance and application development. Document procedures used in the development and revision of computer programs. Analyze, review, and revise programs to increase operating efficiency. Monitor computer system performance to achieve maximum utilization of system software and hardware. Research and review trade journals and information sources for current developments in computer software and equipment. Assist in the training of other Information Technology employees assigned by the Supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.Policy, Reports, and Law:
Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment. Follow School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
