Software Developer Intern BigBear.ai United States, Virginia, Tysons Corner May 07, 2026 Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a Software Developer Intern to support the development of our commercial cloud-based web application. The intern will work alongside senior engineers and technical leads in an agile environment, gaining hands-on experience with full stack development, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices. What you will do

• Assist in the analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of software and web applications
• Support the building of prototypes, proof of concepts, and R D efforts under the guidance of senior developers
• Help troubleshoot and resolve backend issues with guidance from senior engineers
• Assist in designing and maintaining APIs to support external systems, web, and mobile applications
• Contribute to maintaining and enhancing API documentation for backend web services
• Support the development and maintenance of unit tests for critical components
• Assist with the implementation of security and data protection best practices
• Collaborate with the product manager, business analyst, and chief architect to understand technical design and solutions
• Coordinate with team members to contribute to deliverable end-products
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, including releases and deployment
• Attend and support customer and integrator meetings as needed
• Stay up to date with current best practices and emerging technologies
• Participate in code reviews and receive mentorship from senior developers What you need to have Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field Must be a rising Junior or Senior (i.

e., completed at least 2 years of coursework) Minimum GPA of 3.5 preferred Basic foundation in computer science, algorithms, and web services design Familiarity with at least one programming language such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or Python Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git Strong problem-solving skills with good aptitude and reasoning Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment What we'd like you to have Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Cognito, CloudWatch, etc.) Basic understanding of serverless architecture and Infrastructure as Code concepts Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker containerization platforms Experience designing or consuming RESTful APIs Awareness of system monitoring and observability tools Basic understanding of user authentication and authorization concepts Prior internship, co-op, or academic project experience in software development About BigBear.ai BigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
