Job Description

Announcement Northwest Marine Technology (NMT) has an immediate opening for a self-motivated individual who has demonstrated skills in Electrical Engineering with a solid background in Automation, including embedded systems development, Windows programming, and PCB board design. This position would troubleshoot and document existing NMT technology while also developing emerging items. NMT is a 55-year-old company located in Anacortes, WA and a leader in providing tools to fishery resource management agencies. We manufacture complete systems for identifying and tracking fish, primarily salmon, throughout their life history. NMT provides a great work environment for the self-driven personality, with 30 employees ranging from technicians to biologists and engineers to physicists. In 2021, NMT switched to a 32-hour work week while maintaining the current salaries. The Monday to Thursday work week along with competitive salaries, medical and dental benefits, and a 401K program make NMT an attractive place to work. We are looking for a scientist/engineer with broad experience that would be an excellent addition to our technical team. This is an opportunity to make a big impact in a small company. You will make significant contributions to aspects of NMT's main products and processes, both customer-focused and behind the scenes. Responsibilities Maintain AutoFish Ecosystem Maintain software for all systems within AutoFish to ensure reliability and compatibility with future enhancements Provide technical support to AutoFish technicians and customers as needed Maintain the design of all printed circuit boards and sensor assemblies Travel to operation sites and spend time with customers and field service techs to understand future requirements of AutoFish Maintain Production Infrastructure Modernize production infrastructure tools that are critical in the manufacture and distribution of serialized products Contribute to the development of complex proprietary manufacturing machines, controllers, database interfaces, and embedded product software Implement documentation practices Provide scientific and engineering expertise across multiple technical domains Required Skills Experience with the following: PCB board design and embedded microcontrollers C/C++ and Java for embedded, Windows, and Android applications M2M communications using serial and socket connections Troubleshooting complex systems Strong communication skills, verbal and written Great problem-solving skills Broad development experience, front end to back end and low to high level Desired Experience Sensors, cameras, stepper motors GUI Design RTOS Optics Magnetics Education Requirement BS degree in a scientific discipline (Electrical Engineering or Computer Science)
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
