Bachelor's degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field or equivalent (four years) relevant work experience. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires work experience including advanced application programming and analysis, 5-7 years. Experience designing, developing and testing applications using proven or emerging technologies required. Must have a broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards, and a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.

Estimated hiring range:
$114,600 - $166,750 The Job As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping, designing, and delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions that power World Vision's core digital experiences. You will contribute to business-critical systems, including payment processing, e-commerce platforms, and middleware services that directly support mission delivery and revenue generation. You will take end-to-end ownership of services, ensuring solutions are thoughtfully designed, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and long-term technology strategy. Operating with a high degree of autonomy and influence, you will contribute to architectural decisions and help shape system design, engineering standards, and long-term technical direction. This role requires strong system-level thinking. You will look beyond individual components to understand cross-system dependencies, integration patterns, and long-term scalability across the broader platform. You will play a critical role in maintaining continuity and guiding the team through change. This includes quickly building context, exercising sound judgment, and providing technical leadership that stabilizes delivery and reinforces team confidence. You will also help elevate the team by fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and shared ownership, contributing to both the systems we build and the people we develop. Help carry out our Christian organization's mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.​ Application Team Support May participate in all project planning processes. May develop work plan timelines and manage workflows to meet project time frames. Works with team, Operations and IT leaders to mitigate risk and enable application retirement through strategies like "de-coupling" and phasing of work. Participate in planning sessions to define, plan, analyze, implement and operationalize enterprise data models. Participate in shaping application and integration strategy to leverage investments. Work with team and IT leaders to define, review and revise company's standard development process (SDLC) in alignment with changes in business and IT objectives. May prepare and present training to IT staff, as needed. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members. Provide technical guidance or system process expertise. Guide a small team to create or redesign applications that contribute to business unit's needs. Work closely with Architects and Technical program Managers to assure all systems are in line with long-term IT strategy. Lead application team in planning sessions to define, plan, analyze, implement and operationalize business requirements. Promote effective use of enterprise services by educating users on system functionality. Application Development Evaluate existing applications and provide recommendations for improving application performance, stability, scalability, etc. resulting in proposals of options. Identify technical requirements. Code applications using a disciplined development process and in accord with World Vision's development process (SDLC). Develop, execute, and document test plans. May lead the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment. Ensure software is production ready by following appropriate processes. Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems. Evaluate new application packages and tools, performs research on best practices resulting in improvement. Provide recommendations for the solutions that result in appropriate business and technical constraint optimization. Adhere to standards and procedures. Create technical user stories and review technical user stories created by junior engineers. Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the enterprise. Application Maintenance Provide ongoing maintenance of applications. Lead review sessions where patterns of development and break/fix metrics are reviewed as part of standard process for optimizing IT development processes resulting in improved quality and lower operational cost. Provide Level 1 and 2 production support. Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develop solutions resulting in appropriate improvement. Document functions and changes to new or modified modules, test activities/results and other areas such as error handling and backup/recovery procedures. Review modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with application architecture standards and SLAs. Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed. You Bring These Skills Strong experience building scalable, cloud-based applications using technologies such as C#, .NET, and Azure, with a focus on APIs and event-driven architectures Ability to design systems with a system-level mindset, considering integration, scalability, and long-term maintainability Proven ownership of services end-to-end, from design through production support Experience working on business-critical systems such as payments, e-commerce, or middleware platforms Solid grounding in engineering best practices such as simplicity, modular design, and maintainability Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and contribute to technical discussions and design decisions Experience mentoring others and elevating engineering standards within a team Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity Alignment with World Vision's Christian mission and values Requirements Bachelor's degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or related field required. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree based on relevancy to position. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires work experience including advanced application programming and analysis, 8 or more years. Requires work experience in leading projects, and work experience designing, developing, and testing applications using proven or emerging technologies. Must have a broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards, and a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret very-complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements and develop alternate solutions.
Salary & Benefits WVUS Pay Grade Level:
229 Estimated hourly hiring range: $114,600 - $166,750 The posted hiring salary range reflects pay for U.S. locations and is determined using market data and internal compensation guidelines.
