Signal and ITS Field Applications Engineer, TAPCO:
The Signal and ITS Field Applications Engineer serves as a key applications advisor and product advocate in TAPCO's rapidly growing intelligent transportation systems and traffic signal segment. This engineer must be able to provide expertise and leadership to identify and provide reliable solutions for traffic safety and efficiency applications. The right candidate will leverage their knowledge of available technologies and experience to best meet the customer's needs throughout the evaluation and installation process. This position reports to the Director of Service and Software Solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparing estimates by studying blueprints, plans and related customer documents, consulting with sales and purchasing to determine those components required to meet a client's specification. Lead customer presentations and meetings to help drive sales through communicating technical information, features and benefits of TAPCO systems. Travel to project locations to perform site surveys or work with field service to perform as necessary. Works with external contractors and subcontractors to define installation parameters and develop scope of work documentation. Attend project meetings with customers and contractors. Identify customers' needs and sales opportunities to help future growth. Maintains expert level of product knowledge and participates in industry training and certifications to stay abreast of emerging technology and product capabilities (may require overnight travel). Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.
Required Experience and Knowledge/ Skills/Ability:
Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in technical sales, service, or engineering role Authorized to work in the U.S. Valid driver's license Travel is required, up to 50% Strong Microsoft Office skills: MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook. Proven experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Prior experience working independently. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Government sales experience is desirable. Knowledge of the Transportation Intersection Market and associated technologies. Ability to locate, obtain, read, and understand design plans and project specifications to develop cost estimates or competitive bids. Familiar with software packages like Visio, AutoCAD, SQL and other cloud-based software platforms. Excellent attention to detail. Proven understanding of basic electrical and mechanical controls. Knowledge of network communication technology: Internet, intranet, VPN, TCP/IP. Knowledge and/or experience in Connected Vehicle technologies is desirable.
