Job Overview:
The Automation Manager is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the automation team, which provides PLC and HMI-based control system support for projects to improve safety, productivity, quality, and production capacity, and for assistance with advanced troubleshooting of the equipment used to manufacture optical fiber. The Automation Manager will have direct supervision and development of automation engineers and technicians.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering 5 years experience working with automation / control systems Results-driven individual who has demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment Good understanding of business principles and practices and ability to prioritize projects in conjunction with plant goals Excellent team and leadership skills Proven success with project management Ability to motivate, communicate, and drive improvement projects
Preferred:
Leadership experience in a technical environment Experience in optical fiber or other highly automated manufacturing process Familiarity with control system architectures, equipment, and communication protocols Familiarity with programming PLC's, HMI's, and other control system devices
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and R D teams to prioritize automation work to achieve plant goals Recruit, develop, and guide team resources to accomplish objectives Identify and resolve resource conflicts Update other teams on automation project status and timelines Work with other plant teams to identify capital needs to support the business plan Lead and enforce the culture of safety, health, and environment in their work team and daily tasks
