This platform offers a comprehensive suite of payment processing solutions built and deployed exclusively for government. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Checkout team, responsible for ecommerce payment processing, with the opportunity to grow in scope and impact over time. Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of software engineers responsible for checkout and payment processing capabilities. Ensure the team has the business, technical, and product context needed to make sound implementation decisions aligned with organizational goals. Coach and develop engineers through regular feedback, mentorship, and career growth planning. Partner with Product, Architecture, and other Engineering teams to deliver cohesive, cross-platform payment solutions. Drive technical discussions, remove blockers, and maintain forward progress on team deliverables. Own delivery outcomes for your team, including quality, timeliness, and operational stability. Continuously improve system scalability, reliability, security, and performance. Contribute to and influence broader engineering strategy, architecture, and best practices across the Payments organization. Facilitate alignment between technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear communication and decision-making. Identify risks and proactively work with cross-functional partners to mitigate them. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. 3+ years of experience managing a software development team (required). 5+ years of overall software engineering experience. Experience leading teams delivering production-grade, customer-facing systems. Demonstrated ability to mentor, grow, and retain engineering talent. Experience with planning, roadmapping, and coordinating delivery across cross-functional teams. Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions and tradeoffs. Ability to take ownership of a product or system and drive it through delivery and ongoing operation. Experience in payments, ecommerce, or financial transaction systems is a strong plus.
