Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically strong Automation QA Engineer to join our growing quality engineering team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and quality of our next-generation applications through advanced automation, intelligent test design, and data-driven validation. This role demands deep expertise in web automation (Playwright & Selenium), API & database testing, and a forward-thinking mindset toward AI-powered testing. You will not just write tests, you will design intelligent, self-healing, and scalable test systems that evolve with our platforms. Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automation frameworks using Playwright and Selenium for complex web applications Develop and execute API test suites using RestAssured, Postman or custom frameworks (Python/Java) Perform database testing (SQL/NoSQL) to verify data integrity, schema consistency and transaction accuracy across systems Leverage AI/ML techniques in testing to improve productivity Apply analytical thinking to identify root causes of failures, prioritize critical paths and reduce false positives Use Python/Java to build reusable test utilities, data generators, and automation scripts that integrate with CI/CD pipelines Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, and DevOps to embed quality early in the SDLC Contribute to test strategy, CI/CD pipeline integration and test reporting dashboards Stay ahead of trends in test automation innovation, including AI-driven test optimization and synthetic data generation Expertise in: Playwright (preferred) and Selenium (with WebDriver), JavaScript/TypeScript (essential for modern Playwright frameworks), API testing (REST/SOAP) using Postman, RestAssured, or custom frameworks, SQL/NoSQL database testing (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) Proven experience in CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) Experience with test frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cucumber, TestNG) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug complex issues and improve test reliability Proficiency in at least one programming language - Python is strongly preferred Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and test orchestration Familiarity with test data management tools and synthetic data generation Experience using AI/ML in testing Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $144,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
