As an Electronics Specialist III , you'll serve as a campus expert in HVAC controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS), ensuring reliable, efficient, and safe operation of highly technical facilities. This is a hands-on, highly visible role where your expertise directly supports a nationally recognized research institution. Why You'll Want This Role Work with advanced HVAC and BAS technologies across a dynamic campus Be the technical authority on BAS standards, commissioning, and integration Collaborate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and commissioning agents Continuous learning and access to professional development and training Make a measurable impact on energy efficiency, system performance, and indoor air quality What You'll Do HVAC Controls, BAS & Technical Leadership Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, pneumatic, electrical, and direct digital control (DDC) systems Program, modify, and optimize control logic and sequences of operation for HVAC systems Develop, modify, and maintain BAS graphics and system documentation Lead in-house commissioning efforts and support third-party commissioning Serve as the campus authority for BAS standards, integration, and troubleshooting Review controls submittals and sequences of operation for new construction and renovation projects Construction & Project Support Partner with Facilities Management and Project Managers on system design and upgrades Support new installations, remodels, and retrofits of BAS and HVAC controls Interface with contractors to coordinate addressing, point naming, sequencing, and integration Maintain "as-built" documentation and system records Operations & Maintenance Respond to system alarms and performance issues affecting temperature, ventilation, lab exhaust, and IAQ Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and performance verification Use operational data to improve system efficiency and reliability Support energy auditing and system optimization initiatives If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with advanced HVAC systems, and want your skills to make a real impact, we encourage you to apply! Experience Only:
At least three (3) years of controls experience with HVAC mechanical systems and a t least three (3) years construction experience developing and implementing controls sequences of operation for the following systems: Cooling Towers Chillers VAV Boxes Fan Coil Units Air Handling Units (AHUs) Roof Top Units (RTUs) Laboratory Exhaust Systems Strong understanding of BACnet controllers and system integration , including: Troubleshooting System integration BAS graphics development Program development experience within building automation or HVAC control systems (Experience must be clearly documented in the "Work History" section of your application. "See Resume" will not be accepted. In addition, part-time work will be pro-rated.)OR Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years. (Transcripts must be attached for educational credit)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in higher education, laboratories, or research environments Commissioning experience (in-house or third-party coordination) Familiarity with campus-wide BAS standards N4 Certification or similar (if applicable) Strong documentation and communication skills Prior relevant state experienceAppeal Rights:
