Overview Akumen is seeking a Software Developer to support application design, development, integration, and sustainment activities for a federal program. This role supports the delivery of secure, scalable applications that enable data access, business logic, analytics, and visualization capabilities. The position works closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and application components. Build integrations between front-end interfaces, back-end services, APIs, and data platforms. Troubleshoot defects, implement enhancements, and support software upgrades and releases. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical designs and code. Maintain technical documentation and support Agile development and delivery processes. Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software or application development. Demonstrated proficiency in Java and React-based application development. Experience integrating applications with APIs, backend data services, and cloud-hosted environments. Experience with software development lifecycle practices, version control, and defect remediation. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a related field. Experience supporting federal or regulated IT environments. Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery methods. Experience developing secure, scalable applications in AWS-based environments. Familiarity with analytics, reporting, or data-driven application environments. Clearance Requirement Must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher , or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance or higher in accordance with contract requirements.
