Job Title:
Quality Assurance Engineer Job Description This role provides Quality Assurance engineering support for multiple deployments of hardware and software driven systems across various locations in the country. You will travel frequently to customer sites to oversee and perform QA checkout, hardware and software installation, and testing of high‑reliability, mission‑critical aviation systems. The position focuses on ensuring that all deployed systems meet stringent contractual and quality requirements through thorough testing, documentation, and process adherence. Responsibilities Support deployment activities for high‑reliability mission‑critical aviation systems at various locations nationwide. Perform comprehensive QA checkouts during hardware and software installation and integration activities. Oversee hardware receiving and quality assurance processes to ensure equipment meets specifications and contract requirements. Execute software integration, installation, and implementation tasks in accordance with established processes and procedures. Conduct software quality assurance oversight, including verification and validation activities where required. Understand contract requirements, applicable standards, and defined processes, and ensure they are followed throughout deployment. Identify issues or nonconformances during installation and testing and drive corrective actions to resolution. Document all test activities, QA results, and installation details in established databases and documentation systems. Maintain accurate records of test results in line with high‑reliability, mission‑critical systems requirements. Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to support successful deployments and continuous improvement of QA practices. Essential Skills At least 5-10 years of relevant experience in quality assurance or related engineering roles. Proven experience with hardware quality assurance for mission‑critical hardware systems. Experience working with high‑reliability mixed hardware/software systems. Experience supporting programs for the FAA or similar federal government agencies. Hands‑on experience with software installation, implementation, and software QA oversight. Demonstrated ability to document test results and QA activities for high‑reliability, mission‑critical systems. Ability and willingness to support a heavy travel schedule to various locations. Strong understanding of quality control and quality assurance principles in an engineering environment. Ability to interpret and follow contract requirements, processes, and QA standards. Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university is highly desired. Associate degree in a technical discipline combined with strong relevant experience may be considered. Familiarity with government systems and associated QA activities. Experience with Red Hat Linux hardware or IBM hardware environments. Exposure to ADA or C++ for installing, releasing, and testing software builds. Background in working with federal government programs or regulated environments. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to drive corrective actions. Effective communication skills for coordinating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Work Environment This is a long‑term opportunity through 2028 focused on high‑reliability, mission‑critical systems. The role is primarily office‑based, with frequent travel to deployment sites around the country as needed to support installations and QA activities. You will work with mixed hardware and software systems, including mission‑critical aviation equipment and related infrastructure. The environment emphasizes adherence to established processes, rigorous documentation, and compliance with government and contractual standards.- Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gaithersburg, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
