Job Description

Purpose and role of job: The purpose of this position is twofold: PFN will benefit by having meaningful research performed on current Quality Assurance / Engineering problems. The Intern will benefit by gaining valuable, real-world experience in investigating Quality Assurance / Engineering problems and proposing practical Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
The Quality Assurance Summer Intern will work on at least two current Quality Assurance / Engineering problems, under the guidance and supervision of relevant QA Team Members. PATS Philic NMR, Strike-Through, and Rewet. Since our customer began requiring Add-On via NMR as a release requirement, PFN has struggled to balance keeping NMR, Strike-Through, and Rewet all in spec and in control. The QA Summer Intern will assist the Laboratory Manager and Quality Engineer II in investigating this issue. i. Prepare test specimens as needed ii. Perform testing as needed iii. Collect and record data iv. Summarize and analyze data v. Draw conclusions from the data Sources of Potential Contamination from Slitters and Packaging Systems PFN has determined that the sources of potential contamination from the Slitters and Packaging Systems are not as well-defined as they could be and the mitigation steps should be more robust. The QA Summer Intern will assist the Quality Engineer II in identifying sources of potential contamination and proposing practical mitigation steps. i. Go to Slitters and Packing Systems to investigate sources of potential contamination. ii. Document all sources of potential contamination. iii. Determine current mitigation steps for each source of potential contamination. iv. Determine updated / improved mitigation steps for each source of potential contamination. v. Update QA-GEN-003 and
QA-GL-001
with the above information.
Education and experience requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or similar programs
  • Math skills required; statistics knowledge a plus
  • Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
Noisy environment requiring hearing protection; manufacturing environment requiring safety shoes and safety glasses. Other PPE required based upon specific tasks. Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walk / stand up to 100% of time during an 8-hour shift.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling and squatting throughout shift.
  • Occasional reaching overhead during shift.
  • Constant use of hands and occasional use of foot control.
  • Frequent light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.
