Simulation Test Engineer

Simulation Test Engineer Job Description As a Simulation Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Validation and Verification (V&V) of our autonomous vehicle software. You will be responsible for transforming engineering requirements into synthetic driving simulations using tools such as Applied Intuition. This position focuses on developing a comprehensive suite of scenarios to test and enhance the performance of our Autonomous Vehicle (AV) system. You will collaborate closely with Systems, Safety, and Autonomous Software teams to report key findings, troubleshoot execution issues, and contribute directly to identifying system safety limits and functional gaps across various driving scenarios and operational design domains (ODD). Responsibilities Create synthetic simulations from requirements and inputs from Systems, Safety, and Autonomous Software engineering teams. Add and configure custom observers to evaluate simulation pass/fail criteria. Operate Applied Intuition Sim software and other simulation tools. Follow established procedures and techniques to maintain high-quality simulation standards. Report the results of completed simulations back to the requester, summarizing key findings and outcomes. Troubleshoot errors or other issues with simulation execution. Collaborate with systems, safety, testing, and autonomy engineering teams to ensure simulation coverage of common and rare driving scenarios and ODD elements. Support identification of system safety limits and functional insufficiencies. Essential Skills Understanding of autonomous driving technology. Demonstrated experience with autonomous vehicle simulation platforms. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address issues in simulation creation. Experience using Linux and command-line interface. Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical teams. Comfortable continuously learning new software and workflows. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with git or any source control is preferred. Familiarity with unreal technology and unreal engine. Work Environment This position offers a hybrid work or possibly a remote schedule for non local candidates. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
