Position Overview CobbleStone Software is seeking a Software QA Engineer (Manual to Automation) to join our QA & Release team. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and release readiness of our enterprise CLM platform. The ideal candidate will begin with hands-on manual testing to develop a deep understanding of CobbleStone's business logic, configurations, and customer use cases, while progressively building the skills needed to contribute to automated testing initiatives. This position plays a critical role in delivering stable, secure, and high-performing SaaS releases to enterprise customers. Success Measures Success in this role is demonstrated by: Delivering accurate, thorough, and well-documented test results Identifying defects early in the software development lifecycle and reducing escaped defects to production Contributing to stable, predictable, and on-time software releases Maintaining and improving test coverage for new features and regression cycles Demonstrating increasing independence in test design, execution, and analysis Supporting measurable improvements in defect detection, test efficiency, and overall product quality Effectively collaborating with Development, Product, and Release teams Progressively contributing to automation initiatives and QA process improvements Key Responsibilities Manual Testing & Validation Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes Validate complex workflows, configurations, permissions, and integrations within an enterprise SaaS platform Develop, document, and maintain test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on business and technical requirements Test Planning & Quality Strategy Assist in test planning activities, including defining test scope, risk areas, and coverage for new features Contribute to improving overall test strategy and quality practices Defect Management & Quality Assurance Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects through resolution using defect tracking tools Perform defect verification and ensure issues are resolved prior to release Assess risk and impact of defects on system functionality and user experience Release Support Perform release validation, including smoke testing of critical system functionality and regression testing prior to production deployment Participate in release readiness activities and support go-live efforts Help ensure releases are stable, predictable, and meet quality standards Collaboration & Process Improvement Work closely with Developers, Product Managers, QA team members, and Release Management throughout the SDLC Provide feedback on requirements and designs to improve testability and clarity Contribute to the evolution of QA processes, standards, and documentation Automation Growth & Technical Development Learn and apply foundational automation concepts, tools, and frameworks used by the QA team Identify opportunities for test automation within regression and repetitive test cases Assist in the development and maintenance of automated test scripts as experience grows Environment, Data & Integration Validation Support test environment setup, validation, and maintenance Validate data integrity across workflows and system interactions Assist in validating integrations and system interactions, including basic API or backend validation where applicable Professional Development Complete and maintain required CobbleStone University certifications Continuously develop technical and QA-related skills Tools & Technology Environment Web-based SaaS platform (enterprise CLM system) Test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps or similar) Modern web browsers and client-server applications Agile/Scrum development methodologies Exposure to automation frameworks and tools as part of QA evolution (e.g. Playwright or similar) Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience 1-2 years of experience in software testing, QA, business analysis, or a related role (internships and academic projects considered) Understanding of software testing principles and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Experience executing test cases and documenting defects in a structured environment Exposure to defect tracking or test management tools Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Ability to clearly document findings and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Authorization to work in the United States Preferred Experience Experience testing web-based or SaaS applications Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps or similar) Exposure to Agile/Scrum development environments Introductory knowledge of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) Basic scripting or programming knowledge (e.g., JavaScript, Python, or similar) Experience validating complex business workflows or configurable platforms Exposure to data validation, SQL, or API testing Familiarity with enterprise software domains such as legal, procurement, or compliance systems Core Competencies Strong quality mindset with a sense of ownership and accountability Attention to detail and systematic thinking Risk awareness and impact assessment Clear and effective written and verbal
