Our teams work in a collaborative, hands-on environment where curiosity, precision, and problem-solving are essential to developing solutions for complex measurement challenges. We are seeking a Test Engineer to join our Optics and Test Engineering team as a key contributor in a hands-on technical environment. This role is ideal for someone who is challenged by finding creative testing solutions in a niche industry, is naturally inquisitive, enjoys solving complex or ambiguous problems, and has the desire to learn the many intricacies of light and color measurement. The Test Engineer will support system, component, and subsystem testing, contribute to experimental procedures, and help drive testing strategies from planning through deliverables. Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
System, component and subsystem testing, including specification verification with photometric and/or spectroscopic data acquisition Software and hardware integration testing, product release testing and system requirements verification Research and Development oriented investigations, including proof of concept testing and meticulous data organization and technical report creation for colorimeter/photometer related and lens related projects Follow and contribute to experimental procedures to test camera and optical systems Executing test plans from inception to deliverables; developing testing strategies, defining deliverables, and schedule adherence Responsibilities could also include ad hoc projects of a complex nature
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field 2+ years of experience in a related engineering, test, lab, or product development environment Experience in an electronics lab or hands-on technical testing environment Troubleshooting and isolation testing skills with experience using test equipment Strong debugging and technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through difficult or ambiguous problems Data gathering, basic statistical analysis, and presentation skills Experience writing and following standard work procedures Strong technical writing skills for lab reports, test documentation, and findings Ability to interpret requests and define experiments independently
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Experience working in an optics lab or with optical systems Rudimentary electronics experience, such as soldering, wire-harnessing, or basic lab assembly work Familiarity with tooling and fixturing hardware to support experimental setups Programming experience, particularly in C#.NET and/or VB.NET Experience using and interfacing with light measurement equipment Experience with image processing and analysis
