Qualifications Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree including, at least, six quarter hours in statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science and experience equivalent to two years of full-time professional statistical work. Substitution of Education for
Experience:
Graduate course work credit received from an accredited college or university in any statistical field, including but not limited to applied statistics or mathematics; social, behavioral, health, or life science; computer science; any business field, including but not limited to accounting or business administration; and/or public administration may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours in one of a combination of the above listed fields may substitute for one year of the required experience). Education:
Qualifying experience in professional statistical work may substitute for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years (e.g., experience equivalent to one year of full-time work in the above listed field may substitute for one year of the required education).

Examination Method:
Education and Experience,100%, for Preferred Service positions. For Executive Service positions, Minimum Qualifications, Necessary Special Qualifications, and Examination Method are determined by the appointing authority. Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for professional statistical analytic lead work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. This is the advanced working-level and/or lead class in the Statistical Analyst sub-series. An employee in this class is responsible for leading subordinate statistical analyst staff in conducting statistical studies, research, and complex statistical analyses. This class differs from that of Statistical Analyst 2 in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the working level. This class differs from that of Statistical Analyst 4 in that an incumbent of the latter is responsible for supervising small units of statistical analysts. Responsibilities May coach employees through feedback to improve performance and provide guidance, including setting and monitoring performance standards. Designs studies with stakeholders, interprets statistical results, applies advanced techniques, uses specialized software, and compares results over time. Compiles and verifies study results, writes and proofreads reports, creates graphical illustrations, and finalizes documents for distribution. Assists management by using statistical information to support decision-making aligned with agency goals. Leads software program development, manages data entry and backups, and ensures accurate data processing for analysis and presentation. Interprets statistical reports for management, utilizes appropriate metrics, and clarifies data accuracy and limitations. Leads staff in data inference, ensures proper data collection, maintains data instruments, conducts secondary research, and encourages survey participation. Designs user-appropriate spreadsheets, creates original presentation ideas, and brainstorms process improvements for workplace efficiency. Coordinates with team members, provides internal guidance, and uses communication technology to deliver data analysis. Manages long-term projects, assesses program metrics, prioritizes tasks, and cross-trains to ensure operational continuity. Communicates and collaborates with external customers and agencies, provides guidance, describes data benefits, and ensures excellent customer service.
