- Open Until Filled Responsibilities Applies IT concepts to perform complex analyses and functions from multiple IT areas of specialization.
Experience maintaining computer server hardware:
replacing storage drives, fans, power supplies. Experience maintaining network firewall and router NAT configurations. Experience with Network Attached Storage server and client (Linux, MacOS) configuration. Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network security, Wi-Fi, Ethernet. Knowledge of commonly used applications in Astronomy and its related fields including Python, Astropy and IDL. Experience with multiple computer operating systems, with emphasis on Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, OpenSUSE) and MacOS. Advanced knowledge of IT security best practices and policies, including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Has thorough knowledge, skills and abilities associated with identifying systems-related issues and actions needed to improve or correct performance. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Skills to adapt equipment and technology to serve user needs. Has knowledge of applications programming technologies, tools and protocols. Has skills necessary to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner among varying levels in the organization. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Problem-solving skills, motivation to learn, and persistence to work through challenging technical issues. Interpersonal and customer service skills for working with technical and non-technical personnel. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $91,500 to $125,000 yearly ($7,625 to $10,416.67 monthly); the full salary range for this payroll title (INFOSYS ANL 3
) is $91,500 to $168,900 yearly. This is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits. This position is FLSA Exempt and paid monthly. Other Information This is not a Visa opportunity. Conviction History Background This is a designated position requiring fingerprinting and a background check due to the nature of the job responsibilities. Berkeley does hire people with conviction histories and reviews information received in the context of the job responsibilities.
