Job Description
About the role: Backroads is a premium active travel company headquartered in Berkeley, CA, with operations across North America and Europe. We are seeking a Senior NetSuite Administrator with deep implementation experience to join our team during a critical phase of our NetSuite go-live. This is a hands-on, high-impact role working directly with our internal team and third-party implementation consultants to drive the project across the finish line and ensure long-term platform health. The right candidate has been through a full NetSuite implementation before, knows where the landmines are, and can operate independently to configure, troubleshoot, and problem-solve without needing a lot of hand-holding. What you'll be doing: Implementation Support (Primary Focus) Serve as a hands-on implementation contributor, working alongside our third-party consultants and internal IT team to advance the go-live roadmap Troubleshoot configuration issues, data gaps, and integration failures as they arise across workstreams (AP automation, multi-entity/multi-book setup, journal entry integrations, and more) Participate in UAT cycles, validate configuration against business requirements, and drive issues to resolution Support data migration activities including data mapping, validation, cleansing, and cutover planning Help identify risks, flag scope concerns, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Administration & Configuration Own day-to-day NetSuite administration: roles and permissions, saved searches, workflows (SuiteFlow), custom forms, fields, and records Configure and maintain AP and AR workflows, approval routing, and vendor management processes Support multi-subsidiary and multi-book accounting architecture, including intercompany eliminations and consolidation Manage the relationship with our third-party support vendor, coordinating and reviewing their work Ongoing Platform Health Provide user support, triage issues, and maintain system stability through and after go-live Document configurations, workflows, and procedures to support knowledge transfer Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual workarounds, and optimize system performance What you'll need to be successful: NetSuite implementation experience: you have been through at least one full implementation from configuration through go-live, not just post-go-live administration 7+ years of NetSuite administration experience with strong functional depth across Financials (GL, AP, AR), workflows, and reporting Strong configuration and problem-solving skills: you are comfortable owning complex issues end-to-end and working through ambiguity Data migration experience: mapping, validation, transformation, and cutover planning Ability to work effectively with third-party consultants and vendors, holding them accountable to quality and timelines Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues into business-friendly language for finance and operations stakeholders Comfort operating in a fast-moving project environment where priorities shift and you need to self-direct SuiteScript experience: you do not need to build from scratch, but can read, troubleshoot, and make minor modifications to existing scripts Experience with multi-entity or multi-subsidiary NetSuite environments Familiarity with AP automation, SFTP-based integrations, or third-party payment platforms Experience in travel, hospitality, or other service-industry environments Prior experience supporting a NetSuite environment alongside an Oracle or other ERP platform

$140,000.00 - $180,000.00 At Backroads, we uphold a commitment to transparency and fairness within our hiring process, particularly regarding compensation. The salary range posted for each role applies to both employment offers and employees actively working in the role. New hires are typically offered a starting salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range to ensure there is continued opportunity for salary progression during your employment at Backroads, reflecting our commitment to rewarding ongoing dedication, high performance, and significant contributions to our team. This approach not only supports our budgeting strategy but also our intention to foster an environment that encourages long-term growth and strong relationships between Backroads and our valued employees. Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.
